This recipe comes from the family of my high school friend Greg Colombo. The cookies produced are very delicate, moist, and chewy.
Preheat oven to 325 °F. Cream butter and sugars together till light. Beat in vanilla and eggs till smooth. Mix together flour, soda and salt, but do not sift. Add to butter mixture. Add chocolate chips and nuts, if desired; stir to mix thoroughly. Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven 12 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheets. Cookies will seem slightly underdone, but avoid overbaking or they will get hard. Makes 4-5 dozen.
